The Kile's Full-Time RV'ing Blog: Another Trail - Baccalieu Trail through the Avalon Peninsula

Today we took the Baccalieu Trail through the Avalon Peninsula, (Click Link 1 - Click Link 2) it was a nice drive of 140 miles (225 kilometers). We stopped in Winterton to see the Wooden Boat Museum of Newfoundland. Then it was on to other seaports. We stop at the wharf in Bay de Verde to see them unloading seafood from a fishing boat to the fish factory. We took some nice photos of the boats in the harbour. Then we visited other ports and one we stopped at was the Lower Island Cove, to watch whales. There had to be quite a few because we would see them coming up for air, as they spouted water into the air and went back down. Sometimes you would get a view of a fin and other time just a spout of water. Ochre Pit Cove was our next stop to watch Iceberg. , This makes the forth Iceberg we have seen in Newfoundland. The next port of call was Carbonear, where we had dinner in a downtown café. We had fish and chips.

Just to let all you people in the south with 90+ degree weather know, the high the last two week here in Newfoundland, has been in the upper 40’s and 50’s with blowing winds. All the local people we talk to say that thier summer consist of the month of July, and so far they have not had a summer and we are in the third week of July.
