Missoula - Andaconda - Phillipsburg, Via The Northwest Passage, Day-3
The third day and return leg of the return trip took us again back over Lolo Pass and along the Luchsa River. Taking more photos and a few stops along the way. The first stop was the trail head for Warm Springs Creek Trail, you'll see the bridge crossing the Luchsa River and then photos of Warm Springs Creek and the Warm Spring itself. The hike was a short 1.5 mile and 3 miles round trip. We then continued on US Hwy.12 to Kamiah where we caugh SR64 which was a narrow 15 mile road on the top of the mountain to Nazperce, three miles of the road turned out to be gravel. In Nazperce we caught SR62 to get to US95 to Winchester where we went to the Wolf Education & Research Center. It can be reached here www.wolfcenter.org/visit/hours-directions.html.
We were able to see three of the wolfs, one was white, one gray and the other was black. They are somewhat free, they have a 20 acre fenced in area to roam.
From the Research Center it was off to home after three days on the road.
