Rocky Mountain National Park

Yesterday, 10 Sept 10 we took a ride through Rocky Mountain National Park, going west on highway 34, also known as Trail Ridge Road. Our highway taxes where at work, the road is being repaved. We had to make two stops for road construction. We had to make two stop on the return trip as well, of course. Trail Ridge Road is the name for a stretch of U.S. Highway 34 and is the highest continuous highway in the United States. It reaches a maximum elevation of 12,183 ft. The highest point of the park is Longs Peak, which rises to 14,259 feet. We received some snowflakes but nothing more. A lot of the evergreen pines had been hit hard by some sort on insects, in some places 60% of the trees where dead.
