Going for the Gold
Today we took the Idaho scenic route called the Gold Rush Historic Byway. Rich in scenery, history and wildlife. We traveled from Clarkston via US12 which is part of the Northwest Passage then on to Greer at highway Idaho 11 junction. The climb up Greer Grade was scenic, and gave us a good view of Clearwater Valley. Hwy 11 then took us to Weippe through farm land on the way. This area is where the Nez Perce Tribe met and fed starving members of Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery in 1805. We then went on to Pierce, Headquaters, and Orofino and back to Clarkston. The trip brought sightings of deer, turkey and osprey.
