The Kile's Full-Time RV'ing Blog: Sheridan to Cody and Chief Joseph Highway

Tuesday May 21, 2013 was a nice day for travel. We left Sheridan at 09:00 and traveled on highway US14 to Cody, WY. About 2 miles out of Dayton we started up Bighorn Scenic Byway, the 7% climb for about 15 miles to the top. Then it is down the other side for 10 miles after topping off at 9,300 feet, what a trip. After getting down from there we reached the bottom at Burgess Junction which is where US14 and US14A junction. At this point we had the pleasure of seeing two moose, they where young ones but old enough to be away from their mother.

We checked in at the campground Absaroka Bay RV Park.

We then took a trip on the Chief Joseph Highway to Cooke City and on to Yellowstone NE Entrance just to check in to see what part of the park was not open due to weather or road construction. The trip back was a back track to the campground arriving just before dark and making the day a 12 hour day.
