The Bear Tooth Highway

Traveling north through Yellowstone and out the northeast entrance/exit and on to Cook City. Stopping at Cook City for lunch, we saw several news press van and interviews being done. Later we would find out that an older man was killed by a bear and two where injured. After lunch at Bear Tooth Cafe, we continued on our way. We traveled west to east on the Bear Tooth Highway to Red Lodge. Cook City and Red Lodge are in Montana, however, the Bear Tooth Highway dips down into Wyoming along the way. There was highway constructing on the west side of the summit, so after arriving Red Lodge we decided on another route which took us along Chief Joseph Highway and passing the Smith Mining Disaster. We started the day at 6:40 and ended at 23:30 and drove 550 miles. This was our fifth drive across the Bear Tooth Highway in eight or ten years. This is a drive everyone should make.

Starting the day off right soon after entering Yellowstone.
